ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. - After a brief haitus, the Royals men's volleyball team returned to action Friday night...and it didn't look like they missed a beat.

Highlights
Set One
The first set was a back-and-forth affair, with neither team able to pull ahead by more than a point. After an EMU service error tied things at nine, EMU went on a 5-1 run, picking up kills from
Nate McGhee and a trio of Blue Jay errors, for a 14-10 lead. The teams would swap points and ETown was later able to pull within one, 18-17, before EMU responded with four straight for a 22-17 advantage, picking up big solo blocks from McGhee and
Tyler Oaks. Once again, ETown fought back, and pulled within two, 22-20, but the Royals finished out the set, winning three of the final four points, including back-to-back kills from McGhee, to take a 1-0 lead.
Set Two
EMU took advantage of four Blue Jay errors and a block from
Ben Childers and
Walter Spurlock, to take an early 5-2 lead. Once again, the teams traded points to 7-6 before the Royals opened up some breathing room with a 5-1 tilt. The Royals kept a multiple point lead to 17-14 when they went on a 6-1 run to push their lead to 23-15. ETown was able to use a 4-1 run to cut their deficit to five, but a service error closed the door on any rally and put EMU ahead 2-0.
Set Three
The Royals came out with their foot on the gas in set three, using a pair of 5-0 runs to take a 13-4 lead. They pushed their lead to as many as 10, leading 15-5, 16-10 and 17-10, before Elizabethtown rallied a bit, cutting the Royals lead to seven. They swapped points to 20-13, and EMU then scored three straight from kills by
Rey De La Cruz and Oaks, once again putting EMU up by 10. The Blue Jays pulled within eight, 24-16, but a bad set sealed their fate and allowed the Royals to head out with a 3-0 win.
