HARRISONBURG, Va. - Someone was getting their first win.
EMU and Southern Virginia both came into Tuesday night's finale winless. But, after 60 minutes, the Royals are winless no more.
Morgan Leslie scored a pair of goals and
Gracyn Arruda notched 13 saves, as EMU took down SVU 2-0.

Highlights
- Neither team was able to get anything on the offensive side in the first quarter. SVU had a shot on Arruda in the 8th minute, but the sophomore standout saved it, keeping the Knights off the board. EMU had a trio of penalty corners, but couldn't get one on net, as the game went to the second quarter knotted at zero.
- Arruda came up with a big save to start the second, right before EMU struck. After a penalty corner came in from Brooklyn Maldonado, Leslie took a pass from Zofeya Maldonado, dribbled to her left and sent a shot to the lower left corner of the cage, that beat the keeper for a 1-0 lead. Arruda added eight more saves in the frame, as the Royals took a 1-0 lead into the half.
- EMU wasn't able to add onto their lead in the third, but Arruda continued to look strong in the cage, coming up with two saves to send EMU to the fourth leading by one.
- The Royals were able to tack on an insurance goal in the 59th minute. After a Knights defensive save, SVU couldn't clear the ball out of the circle and Leslie's shot hit off an SVU defender and into the goal for her second goal of the game.

This was the season finale for EMU, who will graduate a pair of seniors: Leslie and
Courtney Crawford. They will look to build on this season ending win in the 2025 season.
