HARRISONBURG, Va. - EMU returned home for the first time in 2024 on Friday, welcoming in the #3 ranked Guilford Quakers. 

The Royals held GC in check in the first half and the start of the second half, but multiple runs from the Quakers propelled them to an 83-49 win over EMU.

Highlights

First Half
Guilford jumped out to an early 7-0 lead before a three from Aviwe Mahlong and a jumper from Julien Hagerman, cut the lead to two. Isaiah Carr later drilled a three to pull EMU within one, but GC answered with a 6-0 run to take a 15-8 lead. Later in the half, with the Quakers up by 12, a basket from Daijordan Brown and four points from Jalen Jones, cut the deficit to six. Carr hit a jumper in the final 30 seconds of the half as GC took a 32-22 lead into the break. 

Second Half
The Quakers came out in the second half and extended their lead to 13 before a Brown jumper and a Mahlong three pulled the Royals within eight, with 16:12 left. The teams traded buckets to 42-33, but then Guilford went on a 26-5 run to take a big lead. EMU would pick up points from Jones, Marcos Pradales, Zach Bailey and Donovan Arnason, but it was the Quakers leaving Harrisonburg with the win.

What's Next
