BALTIMORE, Md. - The Royals field hockey squad spent their Wednesday up in Baltimore, with a showdown about Goucher College.
The Gophers held a slim 1-0 lead at the half, but added a pair of third quarter goals, picking up a 3-0 win over EMU.

Highlights
- The Gopher offense peppered Royals keeper, Gracyn Arruda, with three shots in the first five minutes. But the first-year netminder stopped each one, keeping the game scoreless.
- 7' - The shutout was lost in the seventh minute when Goucher's Zoe Mikles found the back of the cage, putting GC ahead 1-0. Arruda added two more saves before halftime, sending the teams to the locker room with Goucher leading 1-0.
- 32' & 39' - Goucher added to their lead with a pair of goals in the third: a second one from Mikles and a goal from Daryn Carter.
- 53' - EMU's best chance came in the final minutes when Kate Landis was able to get a shot on the Gopher keeper. But the save was made, keeping EMU off the board.
