RADFORD, Va. – The Royals faced a tall test on Sunday, heading south to take on DI Radford in an early season matchup.
The Highlanders used a 51-14 first half en route to an 84-47 win over EMU.

First Half
RU started the game on a 16-0 run before a free throw from
Gabriel Campbell got the Royals on the board.
Jalen Jones followed that up with a three, to cut Radford's lead to 14. Midway through the first half, EMU nailed another three, this time from
Isaiah Carr, and another one from
Jameel Davis for EMU's first 10 points. The Royals finished the half with four points from
Aviwe Mahlong to wrap up the scoring.
Second Half
The Royals started the second half on a 10-7 run, picking up four points from Mahlong, three points from
Ty Peterson, a layup from
Marcos Pradales and a free throw from
Michael Watlington. Later in the half, EMU scored four straight off a Jones FT and a three from
Aaron Brooks, off an assist from Peterson. At the midway point,
Edixon Gomez Blanco got in on the scoring, when he picked up an and-one, hitting a layup and draining the free throw. Campbell, Mahlong and Pradales all added points in the final minutes for EMU as they tied RU 33-33 in the game's final 20 minutes.

What's Next
EMU will have the week off from games, but return to the court next Saturday when they head to Bridgewater for the BC Classic. They'll start off with William Peace on Saturday at 4 pm.
