Box Score GREENSBORO, NC – The EMU women's soccer team wrapped up their 2023 season on Saturday, hitting the road to North Carolina to take on Guilford.
Both teams had first half opportunities, but couldn't capitalize until Guilford scored three goals in the games final 16 minutes to pick up a 3-0 win.

Highlights
- Guilford was able to get multiple shots on goal in the first half, but EMU's defense, led by senior Anna Filipkowski, kept them off the scoreboard with four saves.
- The Royals best chance in the opening half came in the 23rd minute when Lyndsay Harris was able to pick up a shot, but her chance was blocked, as the teams went into the break knotted at zero.
- EMU added a pair of shots midway through the second half, coming from Leah Beachy and Amiah Carter, but to no avail.
- Filipkowski continued to keep EMU in the game, picking up nine more saves in the second half. But in the 74th minute, Guilford broke the scoreless tie off a goal from Kylee Berry, to give the Quakers a 1-0 lead. GC added a second goal from Baylee Greenwood in the 78th minute for a 2-0 lead.
- The Quakers added their final goal in the 82nd minute when Berry scored her second of the day, off an assist from Olivia Santos. In the final seconds of the game, Maria Bettilyon was able to get behind the defense and fire off a shot, but it went high, keeping EMU off the board.

What's Next
This was the final game of the 2023 season for EMU. The Royals graduate five seniors, but will return a great deal of depth for their 2024 squad.
