HARRISONBURG, Va. - It wasn't an easy task for the Royals as they capped their 2021-22 season with a game against ODAC-leading Washington and Lee. 

Despite a strong second half that saw the Royals outscore W&L, 25-19, EMU fell to the Generals, 56-41. EMU finishes their season 6-18, 2-6 ODAC. In addition to the season finale, the Royals celebrated seniors Constance Komara and Chyna Roberts in their final games for EMU. 

Highlights

• The teams traded points to start the game with Komara and Trinity Price giving EMU a 4-3 lead. W&L grabbed the lead back but Mya Hamlet responded with a layup to put the Royals ahead 6-5. The Generals then went on a 11-3 run to end the quarter, leading 16-9 after one. 
• W&L continued their run to start the second quarter, adding 13 of the next 17 points to pull ahead by 16. Washington and Lee extended their lead to 20, 33-13 before Claiborne Poston drilled a three. The Generals responded with four straight and took a 37-16 lead into the break. 
• After a Washington and Lee score to start the third, EMU answered with a Brii Redfearn layup and a poston jumper, followed by a Hamlet layup and another Redfearn layup to force a W&L timeout. The teams traded points until, after a W&L jumper, the two teams went scoreless for over three minutes. The Generals added a two but Price answered until W&L finished the third with four straight to head to the fourth leading 49-28. 
• Hamlet started the final frame with a layup and followed that up with a pair of freethrows and another bucket. Poston added a layup to continue the Royals run. Komara capped off her EMU career, drilling a three but the Generals finished things off with a 4-0 run to end the game. 
• Hamlet finished with a game-high 14 points while Poston added nine and Komara chipped in eight. 

What's Next

This was the finale for the Royals as they'll look to the 2022-23 season. They'll return a lot of depth and will look to be a strong ODAC contender.
