HARRISONBURG, Va. – The EMU women's basketball team wrapped up their pre-Christmas schedule on Sunday, taking on Lancaster Bible at Yoder Arena.

The Royals led at the half but the Chargers used a 19-9 third quarter en route to a 63-54 win.

Highlights

First Quarter

LBC took an early 4-2 lead but was answered by four EMU freethrows. A pair from Laila Glymph and a pair from Mya Hamlet gave EMU a 6-4 lead. The teams traded points until four straight from Hamlet pushed EMU ahead by four. After a bucket from LBC, Glymph's layup in the final gave the Royals a 16-13 lead after one.

Second Quarter

A 6-2 LBC run gave them a one-point lead with 4:28 left in the quarter, but Lauryn Moore drilled a three to put EMU back on top. The teams continued, once again, to exchange shots, and leads, but a Brii Redfearn jumper gave EMU a two-point halftime lead, 27-25.

Third Quarter

With the game tied at 29 early in the third quarter, LBC went on an 8-0 run to take a 37-29 lead before a layup by Glymph stopped the run. A Hamlet three and another Glymph layup pulled EMU within one but LBC ended the quarter scoring seven straight to take a 44-36 lead to the fourth.

Fourth Quarter

The Chargers extended their lead to 13, 51-38, before EMU responded with a 7-0 tilt to pull back within six. LBC's Jenna Dombech answered with five straight of her own to push the lead back to double-digits. Glymph and Moore added the game's final five in the final seconds, but it was Lancaster Bible picking up the road win.

Hamlet – 17 points, 10 rebounds, 3 assists

Redfearn & Moore – 8 points each

What's Next

EMU will be off for the next two weeks for finals and holiday break, but will return to the court on Dec. 30 when they head to Mary Baldwin. Tipoff against the Fighting Squirrels is at 2 pm.
