Box Score WINCHESTER, Va. – The EMU women's basketball team made the trek to Winchester Wednesday night, taking on the reigning ODAC Champions, Shenandoah University.
The Royals kept it close in the second half, but it was a big first half by the Hornets that led -them to a 75-53 win.

Highlights
First Quarter
Shenandoah started the game on a 10-0 run before Tiffany Carey nailed a jumper to stop the Hornets scoring. SU continued a strong defensive quarter, allowing just a pair of Lauryn Moore free throws until the final seconds when Brii Redfearn hit a three, to cut Shenandoah's lead to 19-7 after one.
Second Quarter
The Royals offense picked it up to start the second quarter, as EMU was able to cut the lead to 10 with a three from Moore and back-to-back layups from Redfearn and Mya Hamlet. SU answered 8-0 before Trinity Washington's three stopped the run. The Hornets extended their lead to 25 before Redfearn hit another buzzer beater to end the first half.
Third Quarter
Redfearn led the way for EMU in the third quarter, picking up five points, while Washington, Moore and Caris Lucas added three apiece. The Royals defense held the Hornets to 36% from the field in the third frame as EMU outscored them 15-12.
Fourth Quarter
Hamlet made a pair of free throws to start the final frame and followed that up with a layup just a minute later. Another Redfearn three cut the Hornets lead to 18 but that was as close as they got as Shenandoah outscored EMU 18-16 in the fourth.

EMU will continue their ODAC road trip when they head to Roanoke on Saturday for a showdown with Hollins. Tipoff is scheduled for 2 pm.
