Highlights

Set One

EMU jumped out to a quick 7-3 lead over the Hornets, picking up kills from Bri Leeper and Laney Cline, along with a trio of aces from Lizzy Kirkton and Paris Hutchinson. EMU would stay ahead, with Shenandoah right on their heels to 13-15. But the Royals answered with a 4-0 run, highlighted by kills from Leeper and Cline to pull ahead 19-13. Shenandoah would battle back and eventually tie the set at 22 apiece before EMU stamped out the rally with two Madison Stockner kills and a Hutchinson kill to give EMU the set win.

Set Two

Just like the first set, EMU jumped out to an early lead, this time 6-2, before SU tied things at six. The Royals responded with a 12-1 run, picking up points from Hutchinson, Cline, Leeper and Kirkton, to take a commanding 18-7 lead. Later in the set, SU went on a run of their own, 7-0, to cut the Royals lead to 20-15, but EMU slammed the door on a comeback with Cline putting the finishing touches on the set two win.

Set Three

This time it was Shenandoah who took a lead to start the set, pulling ahead 11-8 in the third. The Royals rallied, though, scoring nine of the next 10 points, with kills from Kirkton, Megan Miller and Leeper and five huge aces from Mara Woolford to take a 17-12 lead. The Hornets would pull within two twice, but with EMU ahead 18-16, the Royals scored six straight to move to match point. SU scored four in a row to make it interesting before Hutchinson ended things with a kill.
