Box Score VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – The EMU women's soccer team traveled to the beach Saturday for a matchup against #25 ranked Virginia Wesleyan.
The Royals defense was able to hold the Marlins high-powered offense in check for a large part of the game but a pair of first half goals, along with one in the second half, led Virginia Wesleyan to a 3-0 win over EMU.

Highlights
- 2' - The Marlins offense picked up their first shot on goal in the second minute of play. Alexis Miller put a shot on net, but Aja Laun came away with the save.
- 14' – Virginia Wesleyan got on the board in the 14th minute when Julia Marrone sent a pass to Shyenne Diaz who put it past Laun to give the Marlins a 1-0 lead.
- 35' – 10 minutes before the half, VWU added to their lead. Grayson Yeager picked up a goal on an assist from Olivia Bryant, giving Virginia Wesleyan a 2-0 lead at the break.
- Laun picked up five saves in the first 10 minutes of the half to keep EMU within striking distance.
- 76' – EMU's best offensive opportunity came in the final 20 minutes. Hailey Smith was able to get a shot at the Marlins keeper, Rachel Quigley, but it was saved to keep the Royals off the board. 40 seconds later, Virginia Wesleyan added their third goal, their final of the game.
