Box Score LEXINGTON, Va. - The Royals took on the Generals of Washington and Lee, a top ODAC foe, in a rescheduled contest on Monday.
Highlighted by Brii Redfearn's double-double, the Royals fell in the game by a final score of 84-39.
Highlights
- After a quick 9-0 run from the Generals, Mya Hamlet got the Royals on the board first in the contest, sinking a pair of free throws after drawing the foul. Shortly after, Trinity Price sank a jumpshot inside of the arc to keep cutting into the W&L lead.
- A three from Constance Komara and a subsequent jumpshot from Redfearn continued to chip into the Generals' lead and put the Royals within six early in the game.
- Tough defense from both teams kept the score close early in the second period. Claiborne Poston sank a shot inside of the arc to chip into the lead a bit, with W&L continuing the attack to pull ahead.
- Late in the third period, senior Komara pushed a four-point run by herself, sinking a contested jumpshot then finding herself at the stripe shortly after, sinking both free throws to give EMU some life.
- Jumpshots from Lauryn Moore and Chyna Roberts capped off the scoring for EMU late in the fourth period. Despite a hard-fought battle, the Royals ultimately were defeated in the game by its final tally of 84-39.
- Redfearn completed the double-double in the game, knocking down 10 points and grabbing 10 rebounds to continue her promising first-year campaign.
What's Next
The Royals have the week to work towards their next ODAC game. On Saturday, Feb. 5, they will host Hollins in a rematch from a week ago, with tip off scheduled for 4:30 PM.
