Highlights
-
The Royals got on the board early with solid offensive play from senior
Constance Komara. After coming down with a tough offensive board, she was able to put a solid shot back up to put EMU on the board. After falling down 5-2,
Mya Hamlet decided to take things in her own hands. Near the seven minute mark, the first-year moved around the Randolph defenders for the easy layup, then shortly after found an open look inside of the arc and sank the jumpshot to give the Royals their first lead of the day, 6-5.
-
At the 4:00 mark in the first period, EMU tied up the contest with a jumpshot inside of the arc from
Trinity Price. The WildCats, leading 12-10, hit a layup at the buzzer to take a 14-10 lead at the end of one.
-
The second period was an intense battle between the two ODAC opponents. With time ticking down and the Royals down 21-15, they sparked a six-point run, all from the efforts of Komara, and tied up the game at 21 apiece. A three from
Lauryn Moore and a smooth two pointer from
Brii Redfearn gave the Royals a 26-22 lead, which they carried into the half.
- The Royals were able to build on their lead to start the third with a pair of freethrows from Komara before Randolph answered with a jumpshot of their own. After a Redfearn three, Randolph pulled within two before six straight from EMU extended the lead back to eight. Trailing 31-38, Randolph ended the quarter on a 11-3 run to take a 42-41 lead into the final frame.
- EMU grabbed the lead right back to start the fourth with a Price layup. The lead changed hands seven times over the final six minutes until the WildCats scored their final four points to pick up the win.
- Komara paced the Royals with 17 points while grabbing eight rebounds. Redfearn had 12 and Hamlet added 10. Price finished with a team-high five assists.
