LYNCHBURG, Va. - In the second part of a basketball doubleheader at the University of Lynchburg, the EMU women's basketball team took on the Hornets in a ODAC matchup. 

After a strong start, the Royals were unable to stop the heavy offense of the Hornets, falling by a final tally of 86-44. 

Highlights

• Trinity Price started the scoring for the Royals, sinking a three-point shot early in the game and put EMU on top. After a pair of free throws from Brii Redfearn the Royals were looking at a 5-2 lead after about two minutes of play. 
• With just over four minutes left to play in the first period, Mya Hamlet sank a shot inside of the arc to push the Royals lead out to 9-4. 
• With EMU down by six nearing the end of the first period, Hamlet took a deep shot at the buzzer and sank it in off of the backboard to trim the Hornets' lead to 19-16.
• Redfearn and Constance Komara led the scoring for EMU with four apiece in the second period, with Redfearn adding a rebound and an assist. 
• Hamlet led the scoring for the Royals in the game with 16 points, she grabbed seven boards on top of the scoring while also grabbing two steals. Redfearn added 10 points in the contest while also pulling down five rebounds of her own. 

What's Next

The Royals are back on the road on Monday, January 24, traveling to Hollins for a rescheduled ODAC contest with tipoff scheduled for 7:00 PM.
