Box Score HARRISONBURG, Va. - The Royals continue to push on and show life in 2022.
After a close game this past Saturday, and despite a strong start and finish, the Royals fell to the visiting Yellow Jackets of Randolph-Macon on Wednesday night by a final tally of 69-40.
Highlights
- Both teams struggled to get on the board early in the matchup, but Brii Redfearn put up a tally for the Royals at the 7:27 mark of the game with a driving layup.
- The two teams traded shots throughout the remainder of the first period until the Yellow Jackets went on a short run, finishing the period ahead of the Royals by a slight margin of 14-13.
- Randolph-Macon created distance in the second period of the game, with the Royals struggling to garner consistest point-scoring. Redfearn led the scoring for EMU in the second period.
- At the turn of the half, Claiborne Poston tried to spark life into the Royals' offense with a powerful three-point play. Driving to the basket and sinking the contested shot, the sophomore point guard converted with the sank free throw to spark the Royals.
- In the fourth and final period, the Royals held their own against the powerful Yellow Jackets. Led by Constance Komara's four points and scoring from the bench, the Royals were able to show their contention to Randolph-Macon, but the lead was too much to overcome.
- Redfearn led the scoring for the Royals with 14, grabbing four boards in the process. Poston and Komara each added six to EMU's final tally.
What's Next
The Royals travel to Lynchburg, Va. this weekend to take on the University of Lynchburg Hornet's in an ODAC contest. Tipoff is scheduled for 4:30 PM on Saturday, Jan. 22.
