The loss sends EMU to 5-8 overall, 3-3 ODAC.
Highlights
- Guilford hit a three to start the game before Mizz Nyagwegwe tied things with a three of his own. Tim Jones, Landon Swingler and Nyagwegwe added 10 more before Guilford added another bucket. After a Quaker three, Nyagwegwe sandwiched a Guilford two with back-to-back threes to give EMU a 19-8 lead and force a GC timeout. Out of the timeout, Guilford scored 11 straight to tie things, but that was short lived as Swingler added two more.
- The teams traded buckets, and the lead, until late in the first half. After Jones and Aviwe Mahlong gave EMU a 32-29 lead, Guilford ended the half on 8-3 tilt to take a 37-35 lead into the break.
- The Quakers picked up the second half where they left off, scoring the first 12 points of the half to pull ahead 49-35. Mahlong hit a three to cut the lead to 11 but Guilford answered right back with a three of their own. At the 12:22 mark, DaiJordan Brown hit a jumper to pull EMU within 14. Unfortunately, the Royals wouldn't score for the next three minutes and Guilford was able to extend their advantage to 22, 65-43. Mahlong drilled another three to end the drought but everytime it looked like EMU could rally, Guilford had an answer. After trailing by just two at the half, GC outscored EMU 42-24 in the second half to pick up the win.
- Mahlong led the way for EMU with 18. Nyagwegwe and Jones also had double-digit points, with 11 and 10 respectively. Jones also added a game-high eight assists.
