Box Score Lexington, Va. - The EMU soccer women traveled to Lexington to take on the Generals of Washington and Lee in a mid-week, conference matchup. EMU competed well against the powerful offense of the Generals, but ultimately fell short, losing by a score of 5-1.
Highlights
- The Generals kicked the offense off in a hurry. In the first minute of the match, Erin Hoeh found an open shot for the Generals and sank it, collecting her third goal of the season and giving W&L a quick 1-0 lead.
- EMU fought back quickly, with Hannah York taking a shot in the fourth minute, which was saved by the Generals' goalkeeper.
- York equalized the contest in the 13th minute. Awarded a penalty shot, the senior took advantage of the opportunity, sinking it and tying up the score at 1-1.
- Hoeh found herself in the action again for W&L, this time finding Lee Wielechowski with an open shot who sank it in the 20th minute. Hoeh was credited with the assist.
- The Generals extended their lead in the 27th minute when Ann Riley Huber made the third goal of the night for W&L. Hoeh notched her third assist of the night.
- W&L scored twice more in the second half, holding the Royals scoreless the rest of the way to complete the win with a final tally of 5-1.
