Box Score Lynchburg, Va. - The EMU soccer women traveled to Randolph College on Sunday looking to kick of their ODAC campaign with a win. A match decided by a single goal that came in overtime, the Royals fell to the WildCats by a score of 2-1, falling to 2-4 overall and now 0-1 in conference play.
Highlights
- The first half proved uneventful for both teams, as neither could find the back of the net. The first half ended with a 0-0 tie, the WildCats outshooting the Royals 6-1.
- The WildCats struck first in the second half. In the 62nd minute, Sterlyn Woodward made her way around the EMU defenders to sink the unassisted goal.
- In the final ten minutes, the Royals were awarded a significant corner kick. Hannah York made the entry pass to Samm Livermore, who sank the header to equalize the score of the match.
- Regulation ended with the score still tied up at 1-1, but just two minutes into overtime Joanne Torres found an open shot and sank the game winning goal, defeating the Royals by a tally of 2-1.
