Box Score Harrisonburg, Va. - The Royals hit the pitch this afternoon to take on crosstown rival Bridgewater in a rescheduled, non-conference matchup against the Eagles. The Royals were unable to keep the powerful offense of the Eagles at bay, falling by a score of 4-1. With the loss, the Royals fall to 2-3 in the early season.
Highlights
- In the ninth minute of the match, the Eagles hit the scoreboard first. Ashley Sabatino found Skyler Daum with an open look, who subsequently sank the shot to give the Eagle their early lead.
- Bridgewater tacked on to their lead in the 29th minute when Hanna Randolph broke away from the Royals' defenders, finding the back of the net to extend the Eagles' lead to 2-0.
- In the final minutes of the first half, the Eagles kept adding on, sinking a goal off the foot of Lauren Pion. The goal was assisted by Angel Finch.
- In the 58th minute, the Royals finally cracked through. Samm Livermore gave a picture perfect pass Laura Troyer who found the back of the net. The goal chipped away at the Royals' deficit, putting the score at 3-1 in favor of the visiting Eagles.
- Bridgewater tacked on one more in the 62nd minute when Ashley Sabatino sank an unassisted goal to push the score to its final tally of 4-1.

- The Royals will turn around quickly, traveling to Randolph College on Sunday, Sept. 26 to take on the Wild Cats in their first conference match.
