Royals Drop Sunday Contest Against Generals

Box Score

In their second game of the year, the Eastern Mennonite soccer women were unable to keep the offense of the visiting Washington and Lee Generals at bay, falling by a score of 9-0.

With the loss, the Royals fall to 0-2 in the early season. The Generals improve to 3-0.

The scoring started quickly, with Washington and Lee scoring right from the start on a goal from Ava Boussey in just the third minute. The Generals would continue keeping up the offensive pressure, adding three more in the first period.

The Generals would tack on five more in the second half to put the game out of reach for the Royals.

Samm Livermore (Dunn, N.C./West Johnston) had two shots on the day, including the only shot on goal for the Royals. Hannah York (Richmond, Va./John Randolph Tucker) added another shot attempt in the effort.

Freshman Anna Filipkowski (Louisa, Va./Louisa County) has been busy in her first season with the Royals, playing the entirety of both games thus far. Against the panthers, she added eight saves to her season tally.

The Generals had six different players score in the game. Sydnen von Rosenberg, Erin Hoeh, and Ava Boussy each had two goals on the day.

Eastern Mennonite will look to bounce back from the loss in the coming week, traveling the Virginia Wesleyan on Thursday, Mar. 11 to take on the Marlins in a midweek contest.
