Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

EMU hit .256 on the day, but had to settle for a split in a tri-match at Emory & Henry on Saturday. The Royals came home with a 3-3 record in ODAC play, maintaining their spot in sixth place in the league standings.

The Eastern Mennonite volleyball women step into Yoder Arena for their next match, a big-time clash with rival Bridgewater College this Thursday at 7:00pm.

Emory & Henry 3, EMU 0
The Royals started the day against the host Wasps, and struggled to slow down their attack. They finished the first set on an 11-5 run, but couldn't overcome a 10-point deficit in a 25-21 loss.

EMU started in top in the second, leading by as many as five points, but Emory & Henry used an 8-1 run to flip in front late and steal another 25-21 decision.

The teams then traded leads in the third, including a 5-0 run from the women to get in front 20-19. The Wasps had one final 4-0 run left to get the margin, 25-23.

Eastern Mennonite hit a solid .255 in the match, but EHC was slightly better at .316.

Fresh off her ODAC Player of the Week selection earlier in the week, freshman Paris Hutchinson (Waynesboro, Va./Wilson Memorial) led all players with 18 kills on 29 swings, along with two blocks. Heather Phelps (Moseley, Va./Cosby) added 10 kills on a .500 clip with a team high three blocks. Hannah Johnson (Staunton, Va./Wilson Memorial) put up eight kills and seven digs. Tori Wigley (Elkton, Va./East Rockingham) notched a double double with 34 assists and 11 digs.

Carley Williams led Emory & Henry with 13 kills.

EMU 3, Guilford 0
The Royals kept their attack in the same gear and supported that with a season high 11 service aces. As the result, the women rarely trailed against Guilford and rolled out with a sweep.

Wigley's ace wrapped up a 25-11 win the first, closing on a 10-0 tear. Lizzy Kirkton (Goshen, Ind./Goshen) had two aces and Hutchinson added one in an 11-2 start to the second. The women carried on to a 25-18 win.

Hutchinson had back-to-back aces in an 8-3 start to the third, and then closed the day with back-to-back kills for a 25-21 finale.

The match was another highlight for Hutchinson, who finished with 14 kills, seven digs and three aces. Kirkton did a bit of everything, putting up four aces, five kills, five digs and two solo blocks.

Johnson had eight kills. Wigley put up 32 assists with two aces. Abby Kaufman (Maplewood, Mo./Maplewood Richmond Heights) got the start at libero and responded with nine digs.

Cam Blankenship led the Quakers with eight kills.
