The Runnin Royals used a strong second half to propel themselves over visiting Shenandoah. After trailing by 12 heading into the second half, the Royals were able to outscore the Hornets 54-30 in the half to seal the win.

With the victory, the Royals finish the shortened regular season with a 2-1 record. 

Shenandoah maintained control in the first half, leading by as many as 14 points. Meanwhile, the Royals struggled, shooting 29.7% from the floor and going 1-11 in three point attempts. At the end of the first half, EMU found themselves in a hole, trailing 37-25.

EMU cut the deficit in the second half in decisive fashion, doubling their scoring from the first half and using a stellar 18-0 run started by Tim Jones (Forestville, Md./Central) heading into the final minutes to create space between them and the Hornets.

In the second half, the Royals would end up shooting 65.4% from the floor and 54.5% from beyond the arc, drastically improving from the first. 

Jones led the Royals in scoring, notching 25 total points, just two shy of his career high. The senior added eight assists and five rebounds to his tally in the game. 

DJ Hill (Woodbridge, Va./Hylton) had another impressive performance, grabbing 18 total rebounds, a new career high for the senior. Hill would also add 16 points. 

Transfer junior Mark Burkholder (Broadway, Va/Petersburg/Geneva) continued to add to his impressive first year with the program, adding 17 total points. He shot 3-5 from three point range. 

For Shenandoah, Andres Frye led the Hornets with a total of 22 points. Zach Garrett added 12 rebounds. 

With the expansion of the ODAC basketball tournament, the Royals are garaunteed a spot, with all active teams being included this year. Decisions on the field of play will be announced on Monday, Mar. 1.
