Box Score Harrisonburg, Va. - The EMU women's soccer team took on the Virginia Wesleyan Marlins in a key ODAC contest on Wednesday night. The Royals fell in the contest by a score of 5-0, dropping to 3-6 overall on the year, 1-3 in conference play.
Highlights
- The two teams came out of the gate playing hard defense on the other until Virginia Wesleyan came through first. The Marlins were awarded a corner kick and capitalized, scoring the first goal of the match. Molly Gobble was awarded the goal.
- The Royals played solid defense the rest of the first half, keeping the score at just 1-0 to give them a chance heading into the second half of the match.
- In the 63rd minute of the match, the Marlins were awarded a penalty kick and sank it past the diving goalie of EMU, extending their lead to 3-0.
- Aja Laun and Anna Filipkowski combined for eight saves during the match against the Marlins.

- The Royals are back in conference action this coming Saturday, Oct. 9, traveling to Guilford to take on the Quakers and get back in the win column.
