Box Score HARRISONBURG, Va. - In their final match of the season, the EMU Royals women's soccer team had an offensive explosion to defeat visting Hollins by a score of 8-0. Five different Royals scored in the contest to create the lopsided victory, ending the season on a high note heading into the offseason.
Highlights
- The Royals got on the board in a hurry in just the second minute of play when senior Hannah York found an open look at the goal and kicked it past the Hollins' goalkeeper to give EMU a quick 1-0 lead.
- Just 22 seconds later, Samm Livermore was able to extend the lead. The junior saw an opportunity and took advantage of it, sinking a long goal from outside the box to put the score at 2-0 in under two minutes of play.
- Hollins was able to hold off the offense of the Royals for the rest of the first half, sending the game into halftime with EMU leading 2-0.
- Hailey Smith kicked off the offense in the second half. In the 50th minute, the first-year forward sank the unassisted goal to further extend the Royals lead to 3-0.
- In the 52nd minute, Mary Kate Bomberger found first-year Ashley Iscoa with an open look. Iscoa was able to get a good shot at the goal, sending the ball past Hollins' goalkeeper to put another tally on the board for EMU.
- York tallied her second goal of the day in the 57th minute to push the score to 5-0. Livermore also tallied her second goal in the 66th minute.
- Defender Laura Troyer, who spent time on the front line in her final match of her career, found the opportunity to sink a goal in the 73rd minute of the match.
- To cap things off, York earned a hat trick. Anya Bobrowski crossed the ball to the open York, who booted the ball into the net for the third time, giving the Royals their first hat trick of the season.
