Box Score Emory, Va. - The EMU women's soccer team were on the attack all night against the Wasps of Emory & Henry, but were stung by the heavy offense of their opponent. A match not simply defined by its final score, the Royals fell to E&H by 5-1, dropping their record to 3-10-1 overall.
Highlights
- EMU hit the scoreboard first in the match, notching a goal in just the fourth minute. Hailey Smith found Ashley Iscoa with an open shot who powered it past the Wasps' goalkeeper into the back post to give the Royals an early lead.
- The next 20 minutes of the contest was tight back-and-forth affair between the two teams, both steadily on the attack but unable to get anything into the net. In the 22nd minute, the Wasps came through and sank the equalizing goal.
- Emory & Henry went on the score twice more in the first half to push the score to 3-1 heading into halftime.
- In the 51st minute, senior Hannah York looked to put a dent into the Wasps' lead, finding an open look at the goal but missing high. Maria Bettilyon quickly took a shot shortly thereafter, but missed wide left.
