The Eastern Mennonite University women's soccer team played to its second tie of the season against Agnes Scott College on Saturday afternoon at the Salem College Invitational.

EMU outshot ASC 22-7 in the contest including a 12-3 margin in shots on goal, but was unable to put away the go-ahead score, picking up a 1-1 double overtime draw in non-conference action.The Royals move to 1-0-2 on the season.

In the opening half, the Royals led in shots 4-2, but looked far more aggressive in the second half, tallying 11 shots in the period and adding 2 corner kicks.

Despite EMU's threats, it was Anges Scott who was able to get on the board first due to a defensive miscommunication when junior forward Zoey Perchaluk drew EMU's goalkeeper Leah Wenger (Harrisonburg, Va./Eastern Mennonite) out of the cage in the 63rd minute.

EMU counterattaked just over ten minutes later. The team eliminated the one-goal second-half deficit as Liz Huffman (Mechanicsburg, Va./Mechanicsburg Area) tallied her first-ever collegiate goal. 

Huffman found the equalizer after a cross from Rachel Sauder (Waynesboro, Va./Stuarts Draft) to tuck the ball away. The assist is Sauder's second on the season.

Not even two minutes later, senior Hannah Walker (Chesapeake, Va./Grassfield) riffled a shot toward the cage but missed the net, just hitting the crossbar.

Neither team was able to generate a lot of offense for the remainder of the first overtime or in the second. EMU had seven more shot attempts but did not convert for the game-winner.

The Scotties goalkeeper edged Wenger in saves 11-2, but also saw a considerable amount of EMU offense compared to the Royal's defensive end.

EMU plays again Sunday afternoon at 1:00PM as they take on hosts of the invitational, Salem College.
