Eastern Mennonite came away with a split at a tri-match hosted by Lancaster Bible College on Saturday. With a win over Wilson College, the Royals improve to 6-13 on the season. They stay out of conference play tomorrow, playing a noon match at St. Mary's (Md.)

EMU 3, Wilson 0
The Royals had no problems in taking a sweep from Wilson, hitting a season-best .286 as a team. Set scores were 25-4, 25-14 and 25-6.

Coach Carrie Bert got all 15 of her healthy players into the match. Middle hitter Beck Hoskins (Danville, Va./Westover Christian Academy) had seven kills on only nine attacks to lead the charge. She also had two blocks. Maria Yoder (Manheim, Pa./Hempfield) and Erin Brubaker (Goessel, Kan./Goessel) each added four kills.

Sam Jacob (Harrisonburg, Va./Eastern Mennonite) racked up eight services aces. As a team, the women had 19 for their second-highest total of the season. Skyler Johnson (Harrisonburg, Va./Harrisonburg) had eight digs.

Lancaster Bible 3, EMU 1
The Royals then returned to the court to take on the host Chargers. LBC took close wins in the first two sets, 25-18 and 25-22, before Eastern Mennonite rolled in the third, 25-14. The fourth set was close until Lancaster Bible gained a little space at the end to close the match, 25-20.

Brubaker led the attack with nine kills, followed closely by Janna Williams (Kenbridge, Va./Kenston Forest) with eight kills against just one error. Kara Smith (Hayes, Va./Gloucester) added five kills. Setters Jasmine Johnson (Staunton, Va./Robert E. Lee) and Carly Gingerich (Goshen, Ind./Goshen) each had 15 assists.

Hoskins had seven blocks and Smith chipped in five.

Jacob was again tough at the service line with four aces. In the back row, Skyler Johnson had 20 digs, while Ginny Sorrell (Spotsylvania, Va./Spotsylvania) added 14.

Ashtyn Bouslog led Lancaster Bible with 15 kills and 18 digs.
