Women's Soccer Unable to Find Form In 5-0 Loss to R-MC

Box Score

The Eastern Mennonite University women's soccer team is building chemistry with every game, but they were unable to hit their stride against Randolph-Macon College on Wednesday evening.

The Yellow Jacket's struck early on to get on the board, while the stalwart R-MC defense kept the Royals off of the board for the remainder of the match.

With the loss, the Royals fall to 1-4 in conference play, while the Yellow Jacket's improve to 4-2 in ODAC standings.

Despite R-MC getting on the board early and their 15-2 edge in shots for the first half, the game remained at 1-0 until half time.

The Yellow Jacket's offense exploded in the second half, scoring four more times before the clock ran out.

For the Royals, sophomores Laura Rittenhouse (Harrisonburg, Va./Eastern Mennonite) and Ariel Barbosa (Towson, Md./Towson) each had a shot attempt, but could not convert to find the back of the net.

R-MC led in shots (25-2) and corners (14-0).

Sophomore Leah Wenger (Harrisonburg, Va./Eastern Mennonite) made six saves while playing the first 64:26 in goal.

EMU is back in action on Friday, Oct. 13 when they host their Senior Recognition Night against Emory & Henry during EMU's Centennial Homecoming Weekend. Kickoff is 7:00.
