Box Score EMU's volleyball women got their first ODAC win Wednesday, sweeping past Hollins in straight sets in Harrisonburg. Now 7-7 overall and 1-3 in the conference, the Royals have their sights set on reaching the ODAC Tournament for the first time since 2007.
As the program continues to rebuild, the women are also targeting double digit wins for the first time since 2009.
Eastern Mennonite jumped on the board quickly against Hollins and streaked to a 13-4 lead. Jasmine Johnson (Staunton, Va./Robert E. Lee) closed out the first set with an ace, making a 25-15 final.
Janna Williams (Kenbridge, Va./Kenston Forest) had two kills during an early 5-0 run in the second, giving EMU a 7-3 lead. The Royals had their biggest lead of the set when Beck Hoskins (Danville, Va./Westover Christian Academy) finished it off with an ace, 25-16.
Another quick start in the third gave Coach Carrie Bert a chance to go deeper into her bench. She got 14 of her women on the court at some point in the set, with freshman Kara Smith (Hayes, Va./Gloucester) closing the night out with a kill, 25-20.
Becca Hardy (Port Republic, Va./Eastern Mennonite) led the offense with 10 kills and a .500 attack percentage. Williams was just behind her with nine kills. Jasmine Johnson put up 29 assists while adding three aces.
Hoskins finished with three aces and three blocks. Cheyenne Herbrandt (Star Tannery, Va./East Hardy), Maria Yoder (Manheim, Pa./Hempfield) and Ginny Sorrell (Spotsylvania, Va./Spotsylvania) each had six digs.

The Royals look to continue their momentum out of conference play tomorrow at May Baldwin. Start time in Staunton is 7:00pm. After a rare weekend off, EMU returns to the court next Tuesday at Southern Virginia.
