The struggle from last weekend carried over for EMU's volleyball women, as they fell in straight sets at Roanoke on Wednesday. The loss in the ODAC opener drops the Royals to 5-5 on the season.

Eastern Mennonite will try to snap a four-match losing skid this weekend at home, although it starts with a tall task. The women welcome in preseason favorite Washington and Lee Friday night at 6:30pm, before hosting Shenandoah and Lancaster Bible Saturday in a tri-match. Action starts at 11:00am.

Roanoke took over early in their contest and pulled away to a 25-12 win in the opener. From the onset of the second, the Royals held a small margin before a huge Maroon run steamrolled into a 25-8 final. EMU scored first in the third, and nearly came back from a seven-point deficit, before succumbing 25-17.

Maria Yoder (Manheim, Pa./Hempfield) had six kills and Beck Hoskins (Danville, Va./Westover Christian Academy) added five. Jasmine Johnson (Staunton, Va./Robert E. Lee) put up 13 set assists.

Skyler Johnson (Harrisonburg, Va./Harrisonburg) had a match high 11 digs and freshman Ginny Sorrell (Spotsylvania, Va./Spotsylvania) added nine.
