The volleyball women wrapped up their successful 2016 campaign Friday night, dropping a 3-0 decision to host Gallaudet University.

The Royals close the year at 10-19, their most wins since going 10-20 in 2009. Their .345 winning percentage is behind last year's .360 (9-16), but is their second-highest mark since 2003. They will graduate only two seniors off their 21-player roster.

Gallaudet (18-15) jumped ahead quickly in the non-conference affair, using a 5-0 run to break an early tie. The Bison won the opener, 25-8.

EMU played a few points down most of set two with the final deficit being the largest at 25-17.

The Bison scored the first six in set three. The women could never get closer than five points before GU closed on a 6-0 streak for a 25-14 final.

Senior Becca Hardy (Port Republic, Va./Eastern Mennonite) racked up 10 kills on just 17 swings. She had more than half of her team's kills, and her .471 attack percentage was the 13th time this year Hardy hit better than .400. She broke an EMU match record by hitting .900 in a win over Mary Baldwin on Sept. 22 and averaged 2.50 kills pet set. The middle/right side hit .335 this year and will likely finish third in the ODAC in the stat.

Skyler Johnson (Harrisonburg, Va./Harrisonburg) tied for the match high with 13 digs.

Adele Daniels led Gallaudet with 12 kills. Darriyan Thomas added 10 kills and had six of the Bison's 16 service aces.
