Three days after the women's 7-0 thumping of Sweet Briar, the soccer Royals struggled to get their offense back in gear, falling 1-0 at Hood College on Saturday.

The low-scoring game ended up being decided early.  In the third minute, the Blazers made their first run at the net.  Their initial shot was blocked, but Jessie Herbert picked up the rebound and stuck it in the net just 2:38 in.

Morgan Hill (Martinsville, Va./Carlisle) had EMU's best look at the net late in the first, with her shot being scooped by up HC's keeper in the final minute.

Hood picked up the tempo in the second half and chewed away possession, using a 15-1 edge in shots in the frame to preserve the 1-0 decision.

Hill had the Royals' only two shots in the game.  Becca Borg (Gig Harbor, Wash., Peninsula) did a good job in net, making seven saves.

Eastern Mennonite is back on the road this coming week, including for their ODAC opener.  The Royals play at Roanoke on Wednesday night, before heading to Salem College on Saturday for a non-conference side.
