ODAC Power Randolph-Macon Pushes Past EMU

Box Score

The Royals ran into a powerhouse Randolph-Macon team Friday night at home, and came out on the short end of a 3-0 decision.  It will be a quick turnaround for Eastern Mennonite, as they step back onto the floor at 11:00am Saturday, playing Virginia Wesleyan as part of a tri-match in Yoder Arena.

The women also play a non-conference contest against Ferrum Saturday afternoon.

The Yellow Jackets, picked to finish second in the ODAC Preseason Poll, pulled away in set one to a 25-17 finish.  A 12-1 run in the second spelled a quick 25-14 decision.

EMU regrouped in the third, staying with a point or two until late.  R-MC closed on a 6-2 push to clinch the night, 25-19.

Setter Jasmine Johnson (Staunton, Va./Robert E. Lee) had 17 assists and 11 digs.  Skyler Johnson (Harrisonburg, Va./Harrisonburg) had five kills, while Becca Hardy (Port Republic, Va./Eastern Mennonite) had four kills and three blocks.  Katie Miller (San Antonio, Tex./Brandeis) picked up a match high 16 digs.

Katie Rossberg led the Yellow Jackets with 16 kills while Rebecca McGilvery had 13.

Coach Carrie Bert talks about the loss and quick turnaround for tomorrow:
