Box Score The season came to a close for EMU's soccer women Saturday afternoon, dropping a 3-1 decision at Randolph College in Lynchburg, Va.
The Royals struck quickly, scoring on their first shot attempt in the road game. Morgan Hill (Martinsville, Va./Carlisle) scored just 7:10 into play, getting an assist from Amanda Williams (Millsboro, Del./Delmarva Christian). It was Hill's sixth goal of the season.
But the WildCats had a response, getting a goal from Sam Hablas five minutes later to draw the score even at 1-1.
With keeper Becca Borg (Gig Harbor, Wash./Peninsula) making saves in goal, the score held until the 80th minute. Randolph's Patricia Garrett scored with 10:13 left on the clock. Hannah Walker (Chesapeake, Va./Grassfield) had a shot saved a few minutes later, before Courtney Collier notched the insurmountable 3-1 lead in the 88th minute.
Hill had a pair of shots on goal for EMU. Walker and Emma Petersheim (Linville, Va./Eastern Mennonite) had the other on-target attempts.
Borg added nine saves in her final game.
Senior Notes
Three of EMU's seniors left their marks in the program record books. Morgan Hill leaves with 12 goals and 26 assists for 50 points. She is third in career assists, fifth in points and tied for 11th in goals. Elisa Ott (Lancaster, Pa./Penn Manor) finished ninth with 13 career goals. Becca Borg broke the EMU record for saves in a season this year, settling at 170. The old mark had been 140. She also comes in second in career saves with 439.
