Box Score 2 The volleyball women suffered a pair of tough 3-1 losses away from home Saturday afternoon. Despite the non-conference set-backs, the Royals keep their focus on their season finale, an ODAC date at rival Bridgewater on Wednesday. A win over the Eagles would likely put EMU into the ODAC Tournament for the first time since 2007.
The women sit at 9-15 on the season and 2-8 in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference. The Royals are also aiming for their first 10-win season since 2009.
Hood 3, EMU 1
Playing on a neutral court at Catholic University in Washington, DC, the women took the first set from Hood, 25-23. But the Blazers had the edge from there, getting points when they need them. HC took the final three sets, 25-21, 26-24 and 25-18.
Maria Yoder (Manheim, Pa./Hempfield) had 12 kills and five blocks. Janna Williams (Kenbridge, Va./Kenston Forest) had 11 kills while Kait Miller (Sellersville, Pa./Christopher Dock) landed 10 kills with no errors on 22 swings. Jasmine Johnson (Staunton, Va./Robert E. Lee) had 43 set assists.
Elena Young led Hood with 22 kills.
Lancaster Bible College 3, EMU 1
The Royals turned around quickly and took the floor against Lancaster Bible College, promptly controlling the first set, 25-16.
But the women's hitting slowed down as the Chargers kept energized, taking wins of 25-18, 25-21 and 25-21.
Yoder was again a force at the net, leading EMU with 14 kills and four blocks. Skyler Johnson (Harrisonburg, Va./Harrisonburg) added 12 kills and 14 digs. Jasmine Johnson had 41 assists.
Katie Miller (San Antonio, Tex./Brandeis) had 19 digs to lead the back row.
Myranda Kemrer had 13 kills and 14 digs for Lancaster Bible College.
