Defending Champs Run Past EMU Women

Box Score

No. 4 Lynchburg College had too much firepower for EMU's soccer women Friday night, taking a 10-0 decision in ODAC play.

LC, the 2014 National Champion, took control early and had a 7-0 lead by halftime.  The Royals settled things down in the second half, with Amanda Williams (Millsboro, De./Delmarva Christian) taking a shot in the first minute of the period.  Morgan Hill (Martinsville, Va./Carlisle) and Rachel Breidigan (Douglassville, Pa./Daniel Boone) also had attempts in the half.

Keeper Becca Borg (Gig Harbor, Wash./Peninsula) continued her monster pace in front of the net, racking up a season high 16 saves.  It was her seventh consecutive game with 13 or more stops.  Borg now has a career best 133 saves this season, and also took over the ODAC lead in saves.

The Royals play their final two home games next week, starting with Shenandoah on Tuesday.  Game time with the Hornets is 4:00pm.  EMU also hosts Emory & Henry next week Saturday afternoon.
