EMU's soccer women ran into a tough Washington and Lee team Saturday night at Homecoming.  The Royals hung with the nationally-ranked Generals for most of the first half before the visitors slowly pulled away for a 4-0 decision.

The women's soccer game was scoreless until the 23rd minute, when the Royals turned the ball over in the box.  W&L, ranked No. 22 in this week's D3soccer.com poll, made them pay with a quick strike for a 1-0 lead.  A one-timer just over two minutes before halftime provided the 2-0 lead at the break.

Eastern Mennonite picked up their play in the second, getting a good handful of offensive strikes.  But it was the Generals who found the net, adding insurance goals in the 61st and 69th minutes.

Amanda Williams (Millsboro, Del./Delmarva Christian) had one of the Royals' best chances to score, when W&L failed to clear a goal kick from the box.  Williams picked up the ball and found herself with only the keeper to beat.  Her shot flipped over the goal, however, leaving EMU at "0".  Hannah Walker (Chesapeake, Va./Grassfield) just missed on a header off a corner in the 86th minute.

Morgan Hill (Martinsville, Va./Carlisle) had a team high two shots on goals.

Keeper Becca Borg (Gig Harbor, Wash./Peninsula) racked up 14 saves for her fifth straight double digit effort.  She now has 371 for her career, just six off of tying Joy Shaiebly for No. 2 on EMU's career saves list. 

EMU's tour through the top teams in the ODAC continues next week, as they head to Randolph-Macon on Friday followed by defending national-champion on Saturday.
