Box Score Some nights the ball just doesn't bounce your way. For the EMU soccer women, that night was Tuesday when they suffered a 6-1 loss at ODAC opponent Shenandoah.
The Royals were out-shot, but a disproportionate six of Shenandoah's eight shots on goal found net.
The host Hornets scored three times in the first half, and put the game out of reach quickly with two more scores within the first five minutes of the second. Senior Nora Osei (Springfield, Va./West Springfield) headed in a corner kick from Morgan Hill (Martinsville, Va./Carlisle) in the 62nd minute, but SU scored again late for the final margin.
Osei had EMU's two shots on goal while Hill had the only other attempts for the Royals.
Keeper Brianna Stanard (Spotsylvania, Va./Spotsylvania), making her fourth start in place of Becca Borg (Gig Harbor, Wash./Peninsula), made two saves.
Eastern Mennonite is now 4-7-1 overall including 2-4 in the conference. The women open up EMU's Homecoming slate this Saturday, hosting Hollins at noon on the Turf Field.
