Yellow Jackets Sting Women In Ashland, 1-0

Box Score

EMU's soccer women played as soggy as the weather Wednesday at Randolph-Macon, getting shut out for the just the second time this season, 1-0.  The women out-shot the Yellow Jackets 17-12, but couldn't find the net as they slip to 8-4 overall and 3-3 in the ODAC.

The home team got a goal in the 30th minute to win the first half.  The Royals unleashed nine shots in the second 45 minutes, including six on goal.  The best scoring chance for Eastern Mennonite came in the 63rd minute when Nora Osei (Springfield, Va./West Springfield) broke away for what looked like a one-on-one with R-MC's keeper.  But a defender swept in and broke up the play to help preserve the decision.

The Royals also finished with a 7-4 edge in shots on goal.  Osei charted a game high seven shots.  Becca Borg (Gig Harbor, Wash./Peninsula) made three saves in the loss.

This Saturday the women get the primetime slot for EMU's Homecoming, taking on Sweet Briar College in an ODAC game at 7:00pm.
