The short-handed EMU women's soccer team couldn't keep up with rival Bridgewater College Wednesday night in Harrisonburg, losing 7-0 in an ODAC contest.  The loss drops the Royals to 9-5 on the year and 4-4 in conference play.  They stand tied for sixth in the ODAC with 12 points.

After pre-game ceremonies honoring Erica Detweiler (Hickory, N.C./Fred T. Foard), Eastern Mennonite's lone senior, forward Nora Osei (Springfield, Va./West Springfield) nearly gave Eastern Mennonite the first lead.  Her shot in the 10th minute bounced off the crossbar and the game went downhill from there.

Bridgewater got their first goal in the 12th minute, and defender Cayla Garner (Clear Spring, Md./Clear Spring) left the game with an injury.  Already with two regulars out of the starting lineup, the Royals were stretched too thin.

The Eagles kept on the pressure and scored four more goals in the half to lead 5-0 at the break.  BC added two more early in the second to provide the final margin.

Osei finished with a pair of shots for EMU.  Detweiler fired the women's only shot on goal.

Keeper Becca Borg (Gig  Harbor, Wash./Peninsula) made four saves in 55:20 of work, before spending some time in the field.  Rachel Klainer (Leesburg, Va./Heritage) played the remainder of the game in the net and made two saves.

This was the Royals' first loss by more than two goals this season.

EMU needs to get healthy in a hurry, as they travel to Lynchburg (14-1, 8-0 ODAC) this Friday evening to play at LC's Homecoming.
