The EMU run continues.  The Royals basketball women have now won six games in a row after taking apart Roanoke College on the road Saturday afternoon, 74-46.

Eastern Mennonite held the Maroons scoreless over the first 6:31 of the game, jumping to a 10-0 cushion.  The women led by as many as 14 points in the first half, strolling into the break on top 30-19.

Roanoke continued firing up threes in the second, chipping to within six points two different times.  With 13:02 left the play, EMU's edge was down to 43-37 before Steph Rheinheimer (Manheim, PA/Lancaster Mennonite) broke open the flood gates.  The junior picked out a steal, then followed that with her first, and only, three pointer of the game.

The single bucket triggered a 31-9 surge over the final 11:55 of the contest, pushing the Royals to the big road win and keeping them in a tie for first place in the ODAC.

The bench carried the day, as the subs put three players in double figures and scored 50 total points.  Freshman Jess Rheinheimer (Manheim, PA/Lancaster Mennonite) had her best collegiate game, hitting for team highs of 17 points and six rebounds.

Raiven Patterson (Pulaski, VA/Pulaski County) added 13 points and Shakeerah Sykes (Dumfries, VA/Forest Park) had 10 points, six boards and three assists.

Nora Osei (Springfield, VA/West Springfield) notched a season high eight points.  Bianca Ygarza (Conestoga, PA/Penn Manor) had eight points and three steals.

Eastern Mennonite out-shot Roanoke 48% to 29% and controlled the boards, 47-37.

The Royals improve to 13-5 overall and 9-1 in the ODAC.  They are tied with Guilford atop the league.  Next up for the women is ODAC-newcomer Shenandoah.  EMU hosts the Hornets Tuesday night at 7:00pm in Yoder Arena.
