Box Score A small roster caught up with the EMU women once again Saturday night, when they dropped a 9-2 decision at home to Hollins.
Eastern Mennonite started the game with only 11 women in uniform, including one who had just joined the team the day before.
Early on, the two teams traded jabs. Hollins picked through a defensive breakdown to score first, just 45 seconds in. The Lady Royals answered five minutes later when Kate Harrold (Millersville, PA/Penn Manor) knocked in a score from a corner kick. Morgan Hill (Martinsville, VA/Carlisle) earned her sixth assist in the play.
Hollins then went back on top with a score in the 10th minute, but Nora Osei (Springfield, VA/West Springfield) worked down the right side less than a minute later for the women's second equalizer of the night. Osei's goal was her ninth of the season.
The visitors took the lead back four minutes later, going up 3-2. Late in the half, Hollins added three more as the Lady Royals wore out. The second half featured less scoring, but all from Hollins for the final 9-2 deficit.
EMU was out-shot 23-11, including 16-5 in shots on goal. Field player Kimmy Beck (Lynchburg, VA/Temple Christian) played her second straight game in net and made seven saves.
Hill topped the women with four shots, including two on goal. Elise Sauder (Archbold, OH/Archbold) joined the team before the game as a mid-season addition.
After the loss, the Lady Royals fall to 3-6-1 overall and 0-4-1 in the ODAC. They stay at home next Tuesday to host Randolph College.
