Box Score Even with 110 minutes of soccer, all of the scoring happened in the first 10:16 Wednesday night, as EMU and Sweet Briar settled for a 1-1 tie.
The Lady Royals, saddled with a handful of injuries, started field player Kimmy Beck (Lynchburg, VA/Temple Christian) at keeper had only 11 total players for the road game. Despite all of that, the women jumped to a quick lead on the first shot of the game. Elisa Ott (Lancaster, PA/Penn Manor) broke free outside of the penalty box and beat SBC's keeper just 49 seconds in.
The Vixen controlled the next few minutes and finally netted the equalizer at the 10:16 mark after a long pass led to a breakaway.
In the second half, each team controlled stretches of play, but neither team could score.
The two tired teams lumbered into overtime, with EMU's Kate Harrold (Millersville, PA/Penn Manor) getting the only shot on goal in the first OT. In the second extra session, the Lady Royals had a couple of shots in the 105th minute, but couldn't find net as the game ended in a draw.
Sweet Briar had a 17-12 edge in shots, although shots on goal were much closer at 9-8. Beck finished with eight saves in her emergency start in the net.
Nora Osei (Springfield, VA/West Springfield) led the women with four shots while Ott finished with three.
Eastern Mennonite moves to 3-5-1 with the tie, including their first point in ODAC play with a 0-3-1 mark. Next up is a Saturday night home date with Hollins.
