Women Keep With Generals Until Second Half

For 45 minutes, the Lady Royals slowed down powerful Washington and Lee.  The Generals dominated the second half to run away with a 9-0 decision in women's soccer Saturday in Lexington.

Eastern Mennonite kept the game scoreless until the second-place Generals scored in the 36th minute.  They added one more in the 41st minute to lead 2-0 at halftime.

In the second, W&L netted seven more goals for the final tally.

The Lady Royals had three shots, all on goal and all in the second half.  Morgan Hill (Martinsville, VA/Carlisle), Kimmy Beck (Lynchburg, VA/Temple Christian) and Becca Borg (Gig Harbor, WA/Peninsula) each had a shot on goal.

Borg also played the first half in net, collecting nine saves.  Jenni Beck (Archbold, OH/Archbold) traded spots with Borg in the second and had four saves.

The loss drops EMU to 3-8-1 overall and 0-6-1 in the ODAC.  The women have another date with a powerhouse ODAC team on Tuesday, playing at first-place Virginia Wesleyan.
