Box Score The EMU soccer women came up short at Emory & Henry Saturday afternoon, dropping a 4-0 decision to the Wasps.
The Lady Royals got leading scorer Nora Osei (Springfield, VA/West Springfield) back from a knee injury just in time for the game, and she put a shot on goal in the eighth minute, but EHC snuck in the only score of the first 45 minutes. The home team scored in the 25th minute when picking up a loose ball in front of the net.
Still playing with only 13 women in uniform, EMU started to wear out in the second half. Emory & Henry scored on a penalty kick in the 54th minute, and then added insurance goals in the 63rd and 69th minutes. The Lady Royals managed just one shot in the second to seal the loss.
The Wasps had a 19-3 advantage in shots, including 12-1 on goal. Osei had two of EMU's attempts while Morgan Hill (Martinsville, VA/Carlisle) had the other.
Jenni Beck (Archbold, OH/Archbold) played all game in goal and made eight saves.
The women end their injury-plagued year by hosting powerful Lynchburg on Wednesday. The Hornets are one of two ODAC teams without a loss during the regular season.
