Second Half Gets Away From Women In Loss At Mary Washington

Box Score

After a close first half, the second 45 minutes quickly got away from the Lady Royals.  Trailing just 1-0 at the break, the women gave up five scores in the final 28 minutes in a 6-0 loss to Mary Washington in Fredericksburg Wednesday afternoon.

The Eagles scored a goal 9:04 into the game, but the rest of stanza sailed by without another score.

UMW finally added some cushion to their edge, hitting the net in the 63rd and 65th minutes.  The home team then put in three more in the closing minutes for the final margin.

Taylor Wenger (New Holland, PA/Lancaster Mennonite) and Michelle Miller (Sarasota, FL/Sarasota Christian) had the only shots for EMU.

Keeper Jenni Beck (Archbold, OH/Archbold) made eight saves in the loss.

Now 0-2, the women continue a five-game road streak with a contest at Shenandoah Wednesday night at 7:00pm.
