Washington & Lee Extends Women's Search For First Win

Box Score

A few injuries can drastically affect a short roster, and the Lady Royals were a victim of that circumstance Saturday afternoon when they were shut out at home by Washington & Lee.

The women survived a couple of darts early in the first half, most notably after a turnover in front of the goal.  The resulting shot hit the post, leaving the game scoreless.

But Washington & Lee quickly broke the game open, scoring two minutes later off a corner kick and then again another two later for a 2-0 lead in the 29th minute.

The Generals added a trio of second half goals to produce the final, 5-0.

Sarah Carpenter (Denver, PA/Cocalico) had EMU's only shot in the game.

Keeper Jenni Beck (Archbold, OH/Archbold) finished with six saves.

The Lady Royals slide to 0-9 after the loss, including 0-3 in ODAC play.  They face another of the league's top-level teams Wednesday when they travel to Lynchburg.
