Hornets Sweep Past Volleyball Women

The Eastern Mennonite women's volleyball team hosted Lynchburg Saturday afternoon in Harrisonburg.  Both teams had played the previous evening, but the Hornets had more energy in a 3-0 sweep.

The Lady Royals had a 10-8 lead in game one before faltering to a 25-18 finish.  The Hornets skipped to a 6-1 cushion in game two and never looked back, 25-19.

The teams battled evenly early in game three before Lynchburg closed things out on a 14-4 run for a 25-13 score.

Kyle Moorefield (Danville, VA/Tunstall) led EMU with five kills and five service aces.  Tabitha Bowman (Waynesboro, VA/Stuarts Draft) also have five kills with one solo block.

Mattie Lehman (New Paris, IN/Bethany Christian) split time between setter and libero and finished with team highs of nine digs and seven assists.

With the loss the Lady Royals slide to 3-9 overall and 0-3 in the ODAC.  Their four-match homestand continues next week with Virginia Wesleyan on Tuesday and Shenandoah on Thursday.
