Box Score The Eastern Mennonite women's basketball team was in Ashland Tuesday night to take on conference-leading Randolph-Macon. The Royals had beaten R-MC by 21 when they played in Harrisonburg in late November, but the Yellow Jackets got their revenge on their home floor, controlling the women in an 82-58 decision.
R-MC jumped out to a 21-4 lead and led the Eastern Mennonite women 39-17 at halftime. The Royals shot just 17% in the first 20 minutes.
The women regrouped in the second half but couldn't mount a comeback in an 82-58 defeat.
Sara Lamneck (Swoope, Va./Buffalo Gap) led the Royals with 13 points and 8 rebounds. Kala Yoders (Myerstown, Pa./ELCO) added 11.
R-MC's Taylor Wieczorek led all players with 21 points and 19 rebounds.
EMU shot just 30.6% in the loss, hitting 19 of 62 shots. The Yellow Jackets were 35-71 from the floor for 49.3%.
The Royals slip to 11-9 overall and 9-6 in the ODAC. Conference-leading Randolph-Macon is 15-4 and 13-1. Next up for EMU is a men's/women's doubleheader at home on Saturday. The women host Roanoke at 4:00pm in Yoder Arena with the men taking on Randolph at 7:00pm.
