Box Score Virginia Wesleyan scored 41 points in the second half to hand the Eastern Mennonite University Royals their first loss of the season, 62-57, Saturday afternoon in Virginia Beach, Va.
The Marlins improve to 6-1 overall on the season and 4-0 in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference. EMU drops to 6-1 on the year, 4-1 in the conference.
Shawnee Lewis led the Marlins with 15 points and eight rebounds including a 9-for-15 mark from the charity stripe. Nancy Kelly had eight points and five rebounds while Jocelyn Spencer dropped in another seven points for VWC.
Kala Yoders (Myerstown, Pa./Eastern Lebanon Co.) led all scorers with 18 points on 8-of-13 shooting from the field. Stephanie Rheinheimer (Manheim, Pa./Lancaster Mennonite) had 11 points and was 3-of-5 from behind the arc while Bianca Ygarza (Conestoga, Pa./Penn Manor) came off the bench to add another 12 points for EMU.
Raiven Patterson (Pulaski, Va./Pulaski) had a team-high eight rebounds and four assists .
